GRADING STRUCTURE

A manghihilot is an individual who specializes in traditional touch therapy techniques within the framework of the Dugukan Hilot System. In this grading system, achieving a Black Belt signifies not the conclusion of training, but the initiation of further development. Earning a Black Belt in the Dugukan Hilot System is included in the vessel list of the system, representing a code of life that practitioners strive to achieve throughout their lifetime. The Manghihilot has the capability to achieve up to 10 degrees of Black and Master's Degree Belts within the Dugukan Hilot System as either a practitioner or an instructor.

  1. Magkat-on. First Degree (Dugukan Hilot System)— In the Dugukan Hilot System, Magkat-on corresponds to the Yellow Belt classification. This level introduces practitioners to the foundational concepts and techniques of the system, emphasizing the importance of discipline and respect. As they progress, learners will develop their skills and understanding of the art, preparing them for the challenges ahead for the next level.

  2. Abtik. Second Degree (Dugukan Hilot System)— The second degree progresses in learning the Dugukan Hilot System, which involves more advanced techniques and philosophies. This level facilitates the sharing of knowledge among practitioners, thereby fostering camaraderie and promoting mutual growth within the learning community. The ongoing training advances the learner to the second degree of the Dugukan Hilot System. Green Belt 

  3. Igmat. Third Degree (Dugukan Hilot System)— This rank is obtained by verifying proficiencylevels. At this level, practitioners thoroughly examine the complexities of the Dugukan Hilot System. After successfully completing the system's examinations, he is eligible to formally pursue Igmat, the third degree of the Dugukan Hilot system, which equates to a red belt.

  4. Matan. The Fourth Degree (Dugukan Hilot System)— This degree honors a learner's or practitioner's expertise in the Dugukan Hilot System, as well as their ability to apply real-world applications or train others, as contributions to the growth of the profession. This degree emphasizes the importance of leadership and accountability, pushing practitioners to improve their grasp of system applications. The fourth-degree Mat-an designation corresponds to the brown belt level in the Dugukan Hilot System.

  5. Haligi. Black Belt—First Dan to Fifth Dan (Dugukan Hilot System)—Each degree shows that a Dugukan Hilot System practitioner has met the necessary skills competencies for a Black Belt level in the Dugukan Hilot System.  The degree is obtained after passing the Dugukan Hilot System examinations for the specified Dan category.

  6. Haligi. Master's Degree—Six Dan (Dugukan Hilot System)— The Dugukan Hilot System requires passing the required examination to achieve this level of master's degree (6th Dan). This accomplishment reflects a successful period of dedication and commitment. Achieving the 5th Degree and passing the system-set examination for the promotion leads to this level.   7. Haligi. Master's Degree—Seventh Dan: After passing the examinations set by the system for this promotion, one achieves the Master's Degree—7th Dan (Dugukan Hilot System). This level denotes proficiency and mastery in the techniques and suggests an in-depth understanding of the philosophical, cultural, and primarily spiritual facets of the practice. Achieving the Haligi Master's Degree—Seventh Dan level not only reflects a high degree of skill but also a commitment to ethical standards and community service. Practitioners at this rank are expected to mentor others, ensuring that the traditions and values of the Dugukan Hilot System are preserved and passed on effectively. At this stage, they frequently spearhead seminars and workshops, leveraging their expertise to further enrich the community.

A Haligi, or Grand Master's Degree in the Dugukan Hilot System, signifies a profound understanding of the ultimate way of life, known as Art of Life 1---72. This profound understanding enables him to guide others in achieving harmony and balance in their lives. Their expertise is sought after not only for healing practices but also for imparting the ways of wisdom that transcend the physical realm. The Dugukan Hilot System began its operations in a small business center in Cebu City in 2007 and has since evolved into a thriving hub for holistic wellness practitioners of Manghihilot, promoting this unique domestic art of natural healing that originated in Carcar, Cebu South, from a specific Manghihilot and an eccentric natural healer who has been practicing since a young age. During its operation, the center has received significant support and countless awards from patrons, both private and public, who appreciate the benefits of these authentic traditional healing methods. As the center continues to serve the people, it also aims to educate the community about the importance of preserving cultural heritage while promoting well-being. By hosting workshops and events, the center fosters a more profound understanding of holistic practices, ensuring that the art of Manghihilot is passed down to future generations.

 

It also aims to educate the public on the importance of integrating natural practices into modern wellness routines, and it aims to create more and more experts to become teachers/instructors of the said method, thereby enriching the community's connection to its roots. Through collaborative efforts with local artisans and wellness practitioners, the center seeks to create a supportive network that encourages the sharing of knowledge and skills, ultimately leading to a more vibrant cultural landscape.
