The Dugukan Martial Arts System is a self-defense art that originated in the country. At its core, it serves as a method for both unarmed and armed self-defense. For the unarmed, it employs techniques of ancient Dumog, or grappling and pugilism combined with Dumog. For armed self-defense, it employs arnis sticks (short, middle, and long sticks), pestle fighting, axe fighting, bladed weapons—knife fighting (short and long), and the use of any extension of the hands that can be used as a weapon for martial arts fighting. The advanced lesson in the Dugukan Martial Arts System focuses on spiritual martial arts, addressing the holistic aspect of a person’s wellbeing, which encompasses not only the body, mind, and spirit but the entire seven dimensions of the soul. In all seven dimensions of the soul, the essence rests at life’s mystical point. The Dugukan Martial Arts System stands out as a holistic approach to self-defense that transcends the mere physicality of combat. By emphasizing not only weapons training—such as knife fighting and hand extensions—but also the spiritual and philosophical aspects of martial arts, it fosters a comprehensive sense of well-being. This system intricately weaves together the body, mind, soul, and spirit, ensuring that practitioners develop in all seven dimensions of their existence. Through this multifaceted journey, learners are guided toward discovering the mystical point at which their true selves converge, ultimately leading to a more profound understanding of both martial discipline and personal fulfillment. In embracing the Dugukan way, one does not merely learn to fight; they embark on a transformative path toward wholeness.

The Dugukan Martial Arts System originates from ancient wisdom attributed to its founder, who also wrote Angels’ Contacts and Connections and the book WATCH A DIVINE REVELATION. According to him, the purpose of Dugukan is to assist in completing the unfinished tasks of the Enigmatic Masters, especially those enigmatic masters of Pangamot or Eskrima of the 18th century. There are two sources for the origin of Eskrima or Arnis in the country: the enigmatic masters, whose identities have not been revealed in contemporary martial arts history, and who were the first to teach Eskrima or Pangamot to their chosen apprentices. The other group consisted of non-enigmatic masters who trained martial arts using traditional methods, especially by the early 19th century. Most of these non-enigmatic masters avoided mentioning the origins of their martial arts skills, teachings, and the identities of their instructors; perhaps what they were teaching was what they originated by themselves. The enigmatic masters have been guiding successive generations to further develop the arts since time immemorial.

PANGAMOT OR ESKRIMA

Dugukan Martial Arts System Pangamot, also known as Eskrima, is a fighting style from the country that involves the use of bladed weapons, sticks (short or long), alhos (pestle), axes (atsa), or any other objects that can serve as martial arts weapons, originated from the teachings of an Ancient Master of wisdom. In the country, Pangamot, or Eskrima, has been practiced since time immemorial and continues to grow the numbers of practitioners as more learners practice the discipline in the contemporary age. A renewed interest in Traditional Martial Arts and their practical applications in self-defense fuels this resurgence.

Many Pangamot or Eskrima practitioners concentrate on physical skills while adhering to the discipline of respect, brotherhood, and the philosophical aspects of martial arts, while others delve further into the art's spiritual significance. The Dugukan Martial Art System of Pangamot, or Eskrima, is built on a spiritual base and the spirit of Dugukan—Four Pillars of Light—to help practitioners in their martial arts journey, personal growth, and reaching higher levels in life’s healing, growth and ascension. These pillars highlight the value of integrity, perseverance, humility, compassion, and solid spiritual foundation, guaranteeing that each learner or practitioner not only masters the art but also develops a stronger character, sense of brotherhood, leadership, and enlightenment.

The Dugukan Martial Arts System of Pangamot or Eskrima is practiced by all ages and included in the package of the practice are the methods of natural healing involving Hilot Healing (ancient arts of the country used to heal illnesses). A Dugukan Pangmot or Eskrimador is also a healing artist. The Dugukan Martial Arts System emphasizes the practice of both martial arts and healing methods, particularly the hilot method, while advanced practitioners require additional inner cultivation for the magnetic healing, psychic healing and Divine Healing. This holistic approach not only enhances physical strength and agility of the practitioners, but also nurtures mental clarity and emotional and spiritual balance, and as the practitioners expand their learnings, they will discover their profound connection between their martial arts talents or skills and spirituality for self-growth and life’s ascension.

The Dugukan Martial Arts System Dumog represents one of the few surviving indigenous martial arts systems focused on wrestling and grappling combined with pugilism within the Cebu Visayas region. Ancient warriors and masters originally used this practice to overcome adversaries by applying physical strength. The Dugukan Trangka Dumog does not have a defined time of origin. Its earliest practitioners date back to ancient times, while the most recent notable masters of Dumog, who disseminated the techniques, include Maximino Padro in the 18th century in Cebu-South, followed by David Geverola in the 19th century. In the 20th century, the Dugukan Martial Arts System was established in the Cebu Visayas region. The Dugukan Tranka Dumog has origins that are not fully understood, reflecting the traditions of ancient masters of wisdom who practiced the art and transmitted their knowledge to subsequent generations in a manner that is often regarded as mystical.

The Dumog martial arts heritage is still strong, with practitioners of the Dugukan Martial Arts System determined to preserve these old techniques, which have been passed down to succeeding generations in various ways, both enigmatic and not. "Enigmatic refers to a spiritual method, while non-enigmatic refers to a non-spiritual method." Each generation gives its interpretation, ensuring that Dumog's essential principles and effectiveness remain relevant in new circumstances. This adherence to tradition fosters strong bonds among practitioners while also drawing new students eager to master the discipline. As awareness grows, the influence of Dumog expands beyond its initial context, prompting martial artists around the world to incorporate its concepts into their training methods.
